The expansion of Catholic Charities’ outreach to women under the name “Marisol Services” and the launch of its Marisol Health centers is a wonderful development, especially because they put the Church’s support for life into action at every stage of a woman’s life and assist women with various needs, especially the poor.

In the year ended June 30, 2017, there were an estimated 133 babies born whose mothers received prenatal care through Marisol Health. But we must do more.

It is my hope that Marisol’s full range of services – from providing shelter for homeless families to offering in-home counseling services – will help grow the culture of life and make abortion a thing of the past in Colorado. Pope Francis has repeatedly urged the Church to reach out to those who are on the margins of society, those who are neglected and suffering.

I encourage you to answer his call and live out the Gospel by supporting the 2018 Beacon of Hope Gala on January 27 at the Wings Over the Rockies. By contributing to these works of mercy, you will serve Jesus “in the distressing disguise of the poor,” as St. Teresa of Calcutta taught us.

Thank you for your generosity and may our Lord bless you abundantly!

Sincerely yours in Christ,

AB-sig

Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila, S.T.L. Archbishop of Denver
